Avoid Bad Car Shipping Companies

Why You Shouldn’t Book With The Lowest Auto Transport Quote

If you are new to the car shipping industry, there are some things you should know before booking with a company. Read below to find out how avoid bad car shipping companies.

Waste of Time And Money

Would you trust a boat sold to you for $200? Probably not. Why? Because that boat more than likely is going to sink. The same concept applies to the auto transport industry. Now, we’re not saying your vehicle is going to sink, but your wallet might with that $200 loss. Most of the quotes you get over the internet are automatically generated, meaning they more than likely won’t be accurate. When a low rated auto transport company gives you a low quote, the price you receive is going to be below the average cost of transport on your particular route. Meaning, your vehicle will not actually be shipped at that price, but higher.

Bait and Switch

By definition provided by Google, bait and switch is “the action (generally illegal) of advertising goods which are an apparent bargain, with the intention of substituting inferior or more expensive goods.” Although the bait and switch tactic is frowned upon in the auto transport industry, it isn’t necessarily illegal. Most companies will have you place a card on file and sign a contract upfront even if a driver isn’t assigned to your vehicle. Per that company’s contract, they can adjust or inflate the quote that you’ve been locked into. They will also charge your card without your authorization. Once they aren’t able to secure a driver to your vehicle, they will ask you for more money. At that point, if you wanted to cancel, the money they’ve already charged you is theirs to keep. Always do your own research on a company before giving them your information.

No Accountability

You’re probably thinking, “Hey, it’s not that hard, just transport my car”. The car shipping process really shouldn’t be that hard. Unfortunately, some companies make it much more difficult than it should be. When you go with the lowest auto transport quote, the company you end up working with won’t hold themselves accountable for ANYTHING. For example, if your vehicle were to be damaged during transport, the company you booked with will more than likely ghost you, stop answering your calls, and pretty much forget they ever worked with you. That shouldn’t be your problem to deal with. We here at Lightning believe in having a good standing with not just any new customers, but with current and previous customers as well. If any hiccups were to occur along the way, we’ve got your back. We’ll make sure that you’re a happy customer throughout the entire process!
